THE CHALLENGE

Challenge: growth is approaching the limits of the old model

Pharmaceutical portfolios are broad and batch control is strict. Flat-floor storage consumes significant floor area, and manual picking and counting are prone to error.

As the distribution network expanded, the customer needed greater throughput within a limited site while meeting rigorous traceability and audit requirements.

THE SOLUTION

Solution: redesigning how people and systems work together

The solution uses Pallet Shuttle units to build a high-density high-bay, with Pallet AMRs providing automated inbound and outbound transfers and Matrix8 bridging WMS and the equipment control layer.

The system allocates storage locations and outbound sequence automatically by batch number, expiry date and order priority, with every operation fully logged for real-time traceability.

Results: efficiency and experience, together

Every figure comes from live operations and continues to improve as the system runs.
01

Throughput doubled

Automated storage and retrieval plus intelligent scheduling cut vehicle waiting time, lifting overall inbound and outbound efficiency by 60%.

02

More accurate inventory

Operations are validated automatically and inventory data syncs in real time, significantly reducing count discrepancies.

03

Compliant and traceable

Records are available across the entire flow from receiving to outbound, meeting the strict management requirements of pharmaceutical distribution.

Since go-live, the rhythm of inbound and outbound has become far more predictable. More importantly, we know exactly where every batch of medicine is and what state it is in.
